“Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whisky is barely enough.” – Mark Twain
Earlier this month London’s Wellington Arch was transformed into a gentleman’s private pop-up bar as David Beckham celebrated his newly launched single grain Scotch whisky, Haig Club.
In collaboration with Diageo, Gentessential were invited down to the Hyde Park landmark arch to sample the delights of Haig Club and a three course meal cooked by the Michelin starred team from the Harwood Arms.
Within the illuminated Wellington Arch signature cocktails were served with the Haig Club’s fast becoming iconic square blue bottle. The whisky itself comprises a variety of aged whisky from three types of cask: first-fill, rejuvenated and refill Bourbon barrels to create a unique tasting drink that can be served in a variety of guises.
Following the meal guests were treated to a series of whisky events from hot whisky on the balcony over looking Buckingham Palace gardens and Constitution Hill, whisky tasting in the dining room, whisky cocktail making at the Haig bar and the opportunity to make a personalised drink of your choice in the fully equipped lounge room…the main ingredient being Haig whisky of course!
